International European Parliament Simulation

A European Parliament simulation is an educational event in which high school and university students take on the role of Members of the European Parliament, debating and voting on key issues for the European Union in a simulated setting. The aim is to give students a deeper understanding of EU decision-making and of how the EU works as a whole.

The European Parliament simulation that European People has organised every year since 2015 is called IMEP & SUN. It has received the High Patronage of the European Parliament for every edition. Thanks to the team's experience and professionalism, the simulation has a long track record of success.

IMEP European Parliament simulation

The IMEP project aims to give high school and university students a deeper understanding of the European Union and its decision-making processes.

Having a pro-European outlook means being aware of the importance of the EU and its institutions, and of the value of unity and cooperation among European countries.

Taking part in IMEP is a unique opportunity to put what you have learned into practice, gain new skills and broaden your perspective.

IMEP: how the simulation works

The simulation is structured just like the real European Parliament, with a plenary assembly, parliamentary committees and a presidency team.

01 Parliamentary committees

After an initial phase of independent preparation, the simulation begins with the presentation of an agenda. Working in parliamentary committees, students debate and draft reports and resolutions.

02 Plenary assembly

Students present their motions for resolutions to the plenary assembly, where they are debated and voted on using the same techniques and procedures as real Members of the European Parliament.

03 Training and networking

Conferences, meetings with representatives of the European institutions and with experts in the field.

New professional roles

Since the 2021 edition, the simulation has brought new professional roles into the process, giving you more flexibility to choose the role that suits you best.

Scholarship?

We offer scholarships to the most deserving students. To win one, students must pass a 10-question written test and two oral interviews, all in English.

The travel contribution includes:

Accommodation with half board in a shared room (in Brussels at Hotel Meininger***)
Return flight from Rome or Milan (airport taxes included) to Brussels, or the best means of transport to reach your host city for the projects in Italy (e.g. the train from Venice to Rome if you live in Venice)
