IMEP: how the simulation takes place

The simulation is structured like a real European Parliament , with a plenary assembly , parliamentary commissions and a presidency group . The student participants play the roles of deputies of the European Parliament, representing different countries and political groups. After an initial autonomous preparation phase, the simulation process begins with the presentation of an agenda, which includes current issues and issues of interest to the EU. Students, working within parliamentary committees , discuss and prepare reports and resolutions on these issues.

Subsequently, students present their proposed resolutions to the plenary assembly, where they are discussed and voted on. During the plenary assembly, students have the opportunity to express their opinions and defend their proposed resolutions , using the techniques and procedures used by real Members of the European Parliament.

The IMEP & SUN project also includes a series of training and networking activities , such as conferences , meetings with representatives of European institutions and meetings with industry experts . These activities allow students to deepen their knowledge of the EU and acquire new skills.

IMEP European Parliament Simulation: the new professional figures

Starting from the 2021 edition, the European Parliament simulation presents a completely renewed structure that introduces new professional figures into the process, such as journalist , lobbyist and entrepreneur .

Including these professional figures in the simulation process offers students greater flexibility in choosing the role best suited to them , allowing them to fully understand the dynamics and composition of the European Parliament in a more complete way.

The role of the journalist, for example, allows students to better understand the role of the media in the coverage and analysis of EU decision-making processes . The role of the lobbyist offers the opportunity to understand how organizations and companies influence European policies , while the role of the entrepreneur allows you to understand the challenges and opportunities for businesses within the EU .

In general, the introduction of these new professional figures in the simulation of the European Parliament of the IMEP & SUN project represents a richer and more complete training experience , which helps them to better understand the EU decision-making processes and to develop useful skills for their professional and personal future.

Children can thus contribute to their growth as responsible and active European citizens.
